Hanna Road and the Seven Sacred Pools: checked!
That was the last thing in our list we had left to visit before leaving Maui next Monday. You can enjoy of the nice views during all the trip to Hanna. It takes around 3 hours driving, not because of the long distance but because the road is so narrow that sometimes it is only one lane road, so you have to drive really slow.
To get into the Seven Sacred Pools you pay 10$ that gives you free pass into the Haleakala National Park. We couldn't swim into the pools because it rained a lot the previous day and the level of the pools were too high.
There's a 1.8 miles hike through a magnificent bamboo forest to get to the 400ft waterfall. Amazing how windy it gets because of the water falling!!
On the way back to Wailuku we kept going on the same road and see the other side of the island. There was a sing of Road Closed so everybody was turning back. We decided to give it a try and see if it was really closed. And to our surprised it was not closed at all. For me it was way more beautiful this side of the road that the one we made to get to Hanna, and much shorter!! It took us 1,5 hour only to get back.
Now I have to go 'cos it is windy and It may be the last chance for us to kite in Maui!!
Hanna Road y las Siete Sacred Pools era lo último que nos quedaba pendiente por visitar en Maui antes de regresar a casa el próximo lunes. Tardas unas 3 horas en hacer la carretera hasta Hanna, no porque esté muy lejos si no porqué la carretera es muy estrecha, con muchas curvas y a veces se convierte en un sólo carril. Sin embargo las vistas son preciosa.
Para entrar al Parke Nacional de Haleakala hay que pagar 10$. No nos pudimos bañar en las piscinas naturales porque el día anterior había llovido mucho y los niveles de agua estaban muy altos. Igualmente el color marrón del agua tampoco te invitaba mucho a meterte ;)
Par mi lo mejor fue el treking de 3 km entre un bosque de bambú para llegar a la cascada. Muy chulo y curioso el viento que provoca la caída del agua.
A la vuelta decidimos que queríamos dar la vuelta entera a la isla siguiendo la carretera pero había un cartel que indicaba que la carretera estaba cerrada. Muy raro porque unos amigos nuestros ya nos advirtieron de eso cuando ellos estuvieron 3 años antes. Así que decidimos hacer una intentona, con la sorpresa que la carretera en ningún momento estaba cerrada. Para mi el paisaje en ese trozo de carretera fue mucho mucho más bonito que a la ida, sin coches y sin tanta curva. Además mucho más rápido, tardamos la mitad del tiempo.
Bueno, os dejo porque parece que hace viento y puede ser la última oportunidad de navegar aquí en Maui!!
