PATAGONIA, the undiscovered land

I’m writing my blog while I’m on a plane on my way back to Barcelona after an indescribable amazing month. This time it hasn’t been just one trip but 3 in 1! Patagonia, Colombia and Cayman Islands.

I have so many amazing things to tell you about all three places that I’ll start with Patagonia and the rest will come in other posts ;)

Remember I was telling you guys I was pending on a possible job that would help me get to the first competition of the year in Colombia? Well, It finally happened and It turned out to be one of the most exceptional/unique experiences of my life!

We sailed out from Puerto Montt, south of Santiago the Chile in a beautiful catamaran, the Discovery!!

It was a small crew, Michaela (first mate), Kate (the most incredible chef ever) and Seon ( the captain). I got there on the 19^th January and Michael and Russell got there the day after.

The purpose of the whole trip was joining the Discovery also known as the Cabrinha Quest, this amazing Catamaran that is sailing to the most remote and beautiful places around the world for 5 years and members can join the expeditions on the dates and places they prefer, and I had the honour to be invited to join and give a few tips on kiteboarding.

Patagonia and the fiords are just stunning and absolutely breath taking and just thinking that we had the opportunity to kite in places where nobody has before, makes me feel very special and fortunate.

We had a bit of everything (weather wise) during the 10 days that lasted our adventure. The hardest time I would say it was when we had rain for 3 days non stop, with super strong winds and gusts of 50 knots… that was moving a lot!! I didn’t tell anybody but I got pretty sick! Haha. Poor Michael didn’t have too much fun either at that moment but he just fought his seasickness like a champion!!

Then we had days of strong good wind and others of lighter winds. We even got blessed at the end of the trip with some good swell so at last moment we decided to change plans and go out to the open ocean to try and score a few waves!

I just had my “I’m screeming of happiness” moment there, when I caught a wave at the same time as two dolphins!!

So many highlights on this trip! Natural hotsprings, waterfalls, paddleboarding, kiteboarding, Fiords covered on snow, seals, dolphins, salmons, fishing, meeting super interesting people as Russell and Michael and I even learned to play “Dirty Clubs” which by the way it cost me being hung up from the mast for half an hour and eating in a restaurant with a mask on! Haha…too funny… I totally had a blast on that trip, and waking up everyday and falling asleep surrounded by the ocean is just priceless.

What can I say?? I guess I’m a very lucky girl, all jobs I do turn into be the most unexpected and fun experiences I could have never imagined or planned when I was working in the bank. I love my life and I feel grateful to have such incredible persons surrounding me that support and love me big time! 2014 rocks!!

PATAGONIA, una tierra por descubrir...

Estoy escribiendo mi blog mientras estoy en un avión de camino a Barcelona después de un mes alucinante. Esta vez no ha sido sólo un viaje sino 3 en 1! Patagonia, Colombia y las Islas Caimán.

Tengo tantas cosas increíbles que contar acerca de los tres lugares que voy a empezar con la Patagonia y el resto vendrá en otros posts ;)

¿Recordáis que os hablé que estaba pendiente de un posible trabajo que me ayudaría a llegar a la primera competición del año en Colombia ? Bueno, Al final sucedió , y resultó ser una de las experiencias más excepcionales e únicas de mi vida !

Zarpamos des de Puerto Montt , al sur de Santiago de Chile en un hermoso catamarán , el Discovery !

Eramos una pequeña tripulación, Michaela ( oficial primera ) , Kate ( la mejor chef que he conocido) y Seon (el capitán ) . Llegué el 19 de enero y Michael y Russell llegaron el día después.

El propósito del viaje era unirse al Discovery, también conocido como el Cabrinha Quest, durante unos días. Este increíble catamarán navega a los lugares más remotos y bellos de todo el mundo, una expedición que durará 5 años y los miembros adheridos pueden unirse a las expediciones en las fechas y lugares de su preferencia. Yo tuve el honor de ser invitada en esta aventura por Patagonia y al mismo tiempo a dar algunos consejos sobre kiteboarding .

Patagonia y los fiordos son impresionantes y absolutamente impresionantes y sólo de pensar que hemos hecho kite en lugares donde nadie lo ha hecho  antes, me hace sentir muy especial y afortunada.

Tuvimos un poco de todo ( en cuanto a tiempo ) durante los 10 días que duró nuestra aventura. El momento más difícil yo diría que fue cuando llovió durante 3 días sin parar , con vientos muy fuertes y rachas de 50 nudos ... todo se movía mucho! ! No se lo dije a nadie, pero en ese momento me maeré mucho ! Jaja. El pobre Michael tampoco se lo pasó muy bien, pero superó el mareo como un campeón !

Luego tuvimos días de fuerte viento, bueno y estable, y otros de vientos más suaves. Incluso tuvimos la suerte al final del viaje de tener un buen swell, así que a último momento decidimos cambiar los planes y salir a mar abierto para tratar surfear algunas olas !

Allí tuve mi momento de "Estoy gritando de felicidad ", cuando cogí una ola al mismo tiempo que dos delfines !

Algunos de los momentos memorables de este viaje fueron las aguas termales naturales , cascadas, paddleboarding , kiteboarding, fiordos cubiertos de nieve, focas , delfines , salmones , pesca , conocer a gente muy interesantes como Russell y Michael... y yo incluso aprendí a jugar "Dirty Clubs" que por cierto, perder un par de partidas me costó ser colgada desde el mástil durante media hora y comer en un restaurante con una máscara ! Jaja ... muy divertido ... Lo pasé genial en este viaje, y el hecho de  despertar todos los días y acostarse rodeada por el océano, es algo que no tiene precio .

¿Qué puedo decir ? Supongo que soy una chica muy afortunada , todos los trabajos que me salen acaban convirtiéndose en las experiencias más inesperadas y divertidas que nunca podría haber imaginado o planeado cuando trabajaba en el banco. Me encanta mi vida y me siento agradecida de tener a tantas personas increíbles que me rodean y me apoyan incondicionalmente! 2014 mola un montón!
