Kiteboarding Racing Clinic in Egypt

It's been a while since me traveling to a new destination. Funny how close Egypt is from Europe, and how good for kiteboarding is, but never been here before. Not to mention how beautiful this place is, with incredible turquoise water!

I just got to Ras Sudr a few days ago. For those who are hesitating wether to come or not because of the political conflict, I can tell you that it is totally safe.

I've been running a Kiteboard Racing clinic with the future Egyptian Champions during the week-end, well, just so you know, week-end here in Egypt starts on Friday and ends on Saturday. Sunday is a working day! I didn't know about that and I almost got here one day too late! haha

It's a very exciting project, being here preparing the guys, specially because they're all very motivated. It is also amazing all the set up for the clinic. The spot is perfect and the guys from Kiteloop are just awesome. Also thank you to Royal Dream Tours for all the effort promoting and bringing this sport to the country. It will be an amazing event, no doubt!

Explaining how to tack and gybe 

Hacia tiempo que no viajaba a un nuevo destino para mi. Es gracioso lo cerca que esta Egipto de Europa, y las buenas condiciones que tiene para practicar el Kitesurf, pero incluso así, nunca había estado aquí antes. Y sin mencionar lo bonito que es este lugar con un agua turquesa súper espectacular!

Llegué a Ras Sudr hace apenas tres días. Para todos aquellos que estáis dudando en si venir o no por el problema de conflictos políticos, os aseguro que esto es súper seguro!

He estado dando un clinic de Racing con los futuros campeones egipcios de kite racing durante el fin de semana. Solo para que lo tengais en cuenta, el fin de semana aquí en Egipto empieza el viernes y termina el sábado, y domingo es día laborable! Yo no lo sabia y un poco más y llego un día tarde! jeje

Es un proyecto muy emocionante poder estar aquí  preparando a los chicos, sobretodo porque están todos muy motivados. Es increíble todos los preparativos y equipos que tenemos para el clínic. El spot es perfecto y los chicos de Kiteloop encantadores. También quiero agradecer a Royal Dream Tours Egypt todo el esfuerzo que están haciendo para promocionar este deporte y darlo a conocer en el país. Será un evento increíble sin duda alguna!

Spot COCA-COLA

I still can't believe it... I sent a video of my family and I on vacations a couple of summers ago for a casting for a soft drink. Never knew which brand was for, I thought it was an unknown soft drink company. That was almost 2 months ago, and when I had almost forgotten about it they contacted me saying that my family was on the final, only 2 videos left, from all the world!! That was a World-wide campaign and we were one of the 2 videos left!!!

Unfortunaltely, we haven't been the chosen ones, but imagine our surprised when we discovered that the company was COCA-COLA!!! OMG, just knowing that Coca-Cola was looking at us and thinking of using my family for a world wide campaigning that is already a honor and something to be proud of!! 

I'm not publishing the video because I think I can use it for another occasion, haha, or maybe they'll change their mind last minute!!

Anyways, sooo close...I get I should try more often in the publicity world as I'm being pretty lucky ;)

Todavia no me lo puedo creer...mandé un video de las vacaciones de mi familia y yo de hace un par de veranos para un casting de un refresco. Nunca me dijeron para que marca era, siempre pensé que sería para una marca desconocida. De eso hace casi 2 meses, y cuando ya casi me había olvidado del tema, me contactaron diciendo que el video de mi familia era finalista, que sólo quedábamos 2, de todo el mundo!! Era una campaña a nivel Mundial y nosotros éramos uno de los dos vídeos que quedaban!

Por desgracia ayer me comunicaron que no habíamos sido seleccionados, pero imaginad mi sorpresa cuando me dijeron que la compañía era COCA-COLA!!! Madre mía, solo pensar que COCA-COLA se ha estado pensando de usar un video de mi familia a nivel mundial ya es un honor y algo de que estar orgullosos!!

De momento no hago publico el video por si puedo utilizarlo para otra ocasión, jeje, o por si Coca-Cola se lo repiensa a última hora!!

Pues nada, taaaaaan cerca...debería probar suerte con mas temas de publicidad, parece que tengo bastante suerte con el tema ;)

Last day in La Ventana

As the song says "all good things come to an end", well, I guess this is the end of my stay here in La Ventana. I had a blast of time. I met a lot of new people, I enjoyed the reunite of old friends and I trained as hard as I could. Special thanks to "coach" Gabor for all your help! It was so fun to have a full crew of racers here to train with. Playa Central is for sure the meeting point.

Como dice la canción "todo lo bueno llega a un fin" y este es el final de mi estancia aquí en La Ventana. Me lo he pasado genial. He conocido a mucha gente nueva, ha sido genial el reencuentro con viejos conocidos y he entranado tanto como he podido. Ha sido increíble tener a toda una tropa de racers para entrenar. Playa Central es sin duda el sitio de encuentro para el Kite Race.

2013 couldn't start any better. Many projects to make real and lots of motivation and positive energy!

I'd like to share with you guys this amazing "Epiclist" project that just got released a few of days ago. The mission of the project? helping people to live their dreams and achieve biggest personal goals!! In my case they will help me with my World Championship training, planning and sponsoring.

2013 no podía haber empezado mejor. Muchos proyectos para realizar y mucha motivación y energía positiva! Me gustaría compartir con vosotros este increíble proyecto llamado "Epiclist" que se acaba de poner en marcha hace a penas unos días. La misión del proyecto? ayudar a gente a vivir sus sueños y conseguir hacer realidad sus objetivos! En mi caso, me ayudaran con mis entrenos para conseguir un buen puesto en el Campeonato del Mundo, con la planificación y los sponsors.

Lord of the Wind Showdown 2013

Another winter training here in Baja California and another Lord of the Wind event done! It is difficult to keep you updated of everything's that going on as I didn't have a lot of access to internet lately, but here you have a short resume and a few pictures about the event.

The event started on Friday and it was 3 days of non-stop kiting with all modalities: Course Racing, Slalom, Freestyle, Big air and the classic Lord of the Wind Showdown, that is basically windsurfers against kite boarders, the winner takes it all! Bryan Lake won the long race after a mistake on the last mark of Johnny just before the finish line. 

John Heineken won on the Men's Elite Course Racing and I did on the Women's category. Unfortunately Adam Koch got injured on the knee, we wish him a fast recovery and hope to see him back in the water very soon! 

We had extreme challenging conditions during the event with very strong shifty winds, specially during the Long Race distance, when wind unexpectedly pick up during the race, blowing more than 30 knots! I definitely had the hardest crashes I've ever had during the downwind.

Now is time for testing some new Rista Fins and training as much as possible before the first IKA event of the year.

Otro invierno entrenando aquí en Baja California y otro evento Lord of the Wind! Es dificil mantener el blog actualizado ya que el acceso a internet es bastante limitado, pero aquí tenéis un pequeño resumen y un par de fotos del evento.

La competición empezó el viernes, y tuvimos 3 días de kite sin parar: Course Racing, Slalom, Freestyle, Big air y el clásico Lord of the Wind Showdown, que basicamente es un race muy largo donde compiten windsurfers contra kiters, y el que gana se lo lleva todo! Bryan Lake fue coronado Lord of the Wind este año, después de que Johnny olvidara una boya justo antes de cruzar la linea de llegada.

John Heineken ganó en la categoria de Hombres-elite y yo lo hice en la categoria femenina. La nota negativa del evento fue la lesión de rodilla de Adam Koch, que esperemos se recupere pronto!

Tuvimos condiciones muy extremas durante todo el evento con vientos muy fuertes y cambiantes, sobretodo durante el race de larga distancia, donde en la salida el viento estaba relativamente flojo, y en medio de la regata subió a mas de 30 nudos! Os prometo que nunca había me había caído tan fuerte como lo hice durante el downwind, fue terrorífico!!

Ahora toca testar aletas nuevas y entrenar lo máximo posible antes del primer evento IKA del año.

New challenges for 2013

It's always fun to have new challenges and new goals in your life, and you know what they say "It's never too late!".

I've always wanted to play the piano since I was a kid, the problem is that I told my parents I didn't want to study sol-fa... so they told me one thing was not possible without the other, so I kept with my sport activities (gymnastics by that time).

So the other day, while I was at my parent's celebrating Christmas and I saw one of my nieces playing the piano I decided I also wanted to do that!! My goal is not being a great musician, I just wanna be able to enjoy some moments and to be able to play a few songs.

So I already started! Here you have the result of my 2nd day giving it a try, still a loooot of practice missing!! But I couldn't have even started without the help of my niece Sonia!! Thanks for your patience!! You made my day!!

Siempre es divertido tener nuevos retos y nuevas metas en la vida, y ya sabes lo que dicen "Nunca es demasiado tarde!!"

Siempre había querido estudiar piano, des de niña, el problema es que les dije a mis padres que no quería estudiar solfeo, y me dijeron que una cosa no era posible sin la otra, así que seguí con mis actividades deportivas (gimnasia deportiva por aquel entonces).

Pero el otro día estaba en casa de mis padres celebrando las navidades y vi a una de mis sobrinas tocar el piano y decidi que yo también quería!! No aspiro a ser un gran músico, solamente quiero ser capaz de disfrutar y ser capaz de tocar algunas canciones.

Así que ya he empezado! Aquí os dejo el resultado de mi segundo día probando, me falta practicar muuuuucho todavía! Pero no podría haber empezado sin la ayuda de mi sobrina Sònia!! Gracias por ser tan paciente conmigo! Me has hecho feliz!!! 

A perfect Christmas present!!

I love my Glassy Poncho!!! That's a very useful present, specially if you don't wanna be catched up changing yourself on the beach with your white ass on the air!! haha... I'm laughing because that just happened to me recently in Brazil. I thought there was no one around looking at me... I never thought on the other side of the lagoon, far, far from where I was, there could be a friend of mine with a huge lens... and even worse, he's gonna use it on his kiteboarding video!!!! Noooooo!!

So, If I was you I would check this out. It's just a perfect Christmas/Tio/ 3 Wise Men present. What surprised me more is how light it is! And I just love this color for girls!

MARRY CHRISTMAS to all of you!

Me encanta mi Poncho Glassy!!! La verdad es que es un regalo muy útil, especialmente si no quieres que te pillen en la playa con el culo en el aire mientras te cambias!!! jajajaj... me río porque me ha pasado a mi hace poco en Brasil. Pensaba que no había nadie mirando... pero nunca me imaginé que al otro lado de la lagos, muy muy lejos de donde yo estaba, habría un amigo mío con una cámara y una lente enorme... lo peor? que quiere usar las imágenes en su nuevo video de kitesurf!!! Ahhhhh!!!

Así que yo de ti me miraría esto. Es un regalo perfecto para Navidad/Tio/ o los Reyes Magos. Lo que más me ha sorprendido es lo ligero que es. Y me encanta este color para chicas!!
