OBK Open Brasil Kitesurf Contest

This past week-end I took part in the second stop out of three of the Open Brasil Kitesurf Contest in Taiba (Brasil). A total of 58 riders comming from all around Brasil, Italy, Spain and The Netherlands were there.
Waves Masters was the priority in this event. We had wind and nice waves the three days that lasted the competition.
I came 2nd in both disciplines, waves and course racing. I'm very happy about my first hit on waves.
In course racing, Nayara Licariaro, won with authority. Althought the race was not very long, the strong wind and big waves made it harder.
This was my last competition for this 2009 and I am really happy with all my results this year.
I've recently been told that I'm gonna be in the Liquid Force European Team in 2010 what is really good news for me!
Thanks to all those who keep giving me support!

Brasil '09

Hey, tudo bom?!

I've been in Brasil since middle of October training very hard and preparing for next 2010 World Tour.
In the begining of Novemever I took part in the KPWT here in Cumbuco. I couldn't repeat the two podiums of Dakhla but I'm happy with the results.
I spend most of the time in Taiba. I simply love this spot! You have all conditions in the surrounding area: nice waves in the ocean and flat water in the lagoon, it's up to you ;)
We also met those crazy canadian people, always a good laugh ;p
If you are a kiter and you haven't been here yet, you cannot miss it anymore!

International Racing Contest "King of the Sea"

This last week-end 23-24 october, it took place in Canoa Quebrada (Brasil) the international race competition "King of the Sea" sponsorized by "Bad Boy". Some of the best race riders in the world were invited to the contest.
On the first day the wind was really light and had to go into the water with just 9 knots. Those with bigger kites took advantadge of the situation. I didn't have anything bigger than 11m but at least me, myself, i'm quite light ;)

On the second day, the wind was a little bit better (13 knots) but still big kites were required.

In total were 5 racings and the winners were in both categories (men-women) brazilians, Pedro Carvalho and Naiara Licareão . I came third, after the norvegean Kari Schibevaag. In men, there were two Spanish ranked in the top 5, Abel Lago and Sergio Perera.

Specials thanks to www.flyworks.net/ and i'm proud to anounce than since a few weeks i'm also part of the OAKLEY team!!

KPWT Dakhla

I just got back home from the competition in Dakhla (Morocco). It's been my first international competition this year and i'm just SUPER HAPPY with the results!! I got 3rd in both Course Racing and Waves Master and 5th in Freestyle. Gisela won in freestyle and Sliders, Kari Schivervaag was first in Course Racing, and Kristy Jones was the winner in Waves Masters.

On the day of the arrival there were a "welcome comission" waiting for the riders at the airport, with tea, marrocaine dancing and music. But my happiness soon disappeared when I realised there was one of my boardbags missing! My 6m LF kite was in there! as well as my contact lenses, all my clothes and bikinis, etc...and the worst is that the next flight coming to Dakhla was in 3 days!!

On Sunday, the competition started with Freestyle. The wind was quite stronge and unlucky me i'm quite light, so i was completely overpowered on my 8m. That's why i think my 5th place after the double elimination is a great result!

On day 3 and 4 we went on with Course Racing. The wind dropped down so we changed to big kites. In total we completed 7 races, where i was alternating 2nd and 3rd place with Gisela Pulido. Finally I came 3rd. It was very hard as the two firsts races were only 2 laps, but then increased to 3 and 4 laps that made the racings last up to 45 min! I'm really happy with my racing board and i want to thank Ricky from Flyworks for it.

On day 5-6 we moved to Om Laboir, the wave spot. We were very lucky as the conditions were great, with big, nice waves and good wind too. On my heat vs Kriss Kinn I started really bad as my kite fell into the water and I had to let it go. Fortunately, as it was the losers final, the heat was of 15 min. so I had enough time to take another kite and catch a couple of waves that gave me the victory.

The kiteloop comp couldn't be finished as there wasn't enoght wind.

There was also Sliders competition but i didn't take part on it. Maybe the next time because it looks quite fun!

The only negative thing, not counting the lugagge delate, was that I was since the 3rd day of the comp with terrible stomachache. Everything else was cool, even the Minister of Sport of Morocco came to the Event to give the awards.

So now, back to work until the 21st october that i take a plane to Brasil for the next stop of the KPWT and I'll stay in Taiba till mid December training hard and preparing for 2010.

As always, thanks to all my sponsors, without them I couldn't get these great results! (LF, Flyworks, TEVA, Skullcandy, Rip Curl, Kitepirinha)

Climbing week end!!

This week end i've been climbing in Barcelona, in a place called La Fuixarda. Is a great place for begginers and also for more advanced climbers, and the way to get there has really impresive views (you can see the whole city and the see).

I like kitesurfing more than any other sport i've practiced, but when the conditions are not good for it i like practicing others sports such as spinning, running, surf (when possible), or climbing! Climbing is great for getting some training on some skills such as strength, balance and also agility.

Here you have a couple photos of me this morning!! You should also try, is really fun!!
